Our mission statement ‘Raising achievement in partnership with families and the community’ declares a vision for our school where each individual student’s achievement is important.  We focus on the whole educational experience, aim for success in exams, the arts, extra-curricular activities and leadership.  The confidence and skills gained ensure pathways to university and the world of work.

The impact of Arts College on SWHS:

Results:5 A* – C grade      2001            34%

2011            87%

5 A* – C incl E&M   2001            10%

2011            59%

Staff and students agreed a Cultural Entitlement (the Pledges) which ensures all students have access to arts experiences., this was cited in the Henley Report on Cultural Entitlement as best practice in ensuring all students, regardless of socio-economic pressures, have a cultural education.
